GAME: Great news for pre-owned!

GAME has just announced that second-hand will account for 25 per cent of its sales this financial year. That’s up from 21 per cent in 2009.

This trend is not uncommon. As more and more of the general public realise the value that pre-owned presents, the opportunities for anyone offering a pre-owned service are clear.

Key things to make sure you profit from pre-owned include:

• Check out what your competitors and trade different titles to them
• Advertise your pre-owned service
• Create a section in your store dedicated to pre-owned
• Run weekly offers on specific titles
• Trade any discs – your disc repair machine will give you the confidence that you can repair a disc no matter what the condition
• Offer a disc repair service to increase the profits from your investment in a machine
• Run an online pre-owned service too
